It is getting COLD here in New York City, and while the Me in January will scoff at the me posting this in November, I feel winter coming when it is sub 40. Today I woke up and it was sub 40 so boom: winter is here. I need something to keep me warm this winter, and while I could desperately say it is this drink that will do it, I actually am talking about a fantastic throw blanket we bought last year at West Elm. It was 80% off last spring so we made sure to grab it.

I will, however, be enjoying at least 1 or 2 of these cocktails this fall underneath my wonderful throw blanket as I stare at the thermometer and try to mentally move it back up around 75 degrees. I will keep you posted on my progress but thus far: no luck. Sip. Hmm, still nothing. Sip. Sip.

Ingredients

Directions

Chill a martini glass in the freezer while you build your drink and stir your rye, Lillet, benedictine, apple brandy, and bitters in a mixing glass full of ice. Strain into your chilled martini glass and garnish with an orange peel. Similar to our Orange Fired Negroni you can flame the orange peel before placing it in, it will be great with the benedictine and apple liqueurs.
